OnePlus 5 is now official: Boasts Snapdragon 835, dual camera and 8GB RAM

OnePlus 5 has been officially unveiled today. The flagship killer has come to its fifth generation (including the OnePlus 3T). Over the past generations, OnePlus devices has improved a lot in terms of design and features. However, the OnePlus 5 somehow took a conservative approach for its exterior look by adopting an iPhone 7 Plus alike design language. Apparently, the inspirations from Apple are reflected on the antenna lines and the rear camera placement.

The main upgrade of the 5 is foreseeable on the photography department. For the first time in OnePlus’s history, the company uses a dual camera setup for its handset. The dual camera construction offers a 16MP EIS sensor with f/1.7 aperture, plus another 20MP telephoto lens.

Specifications wise, the OnePlus 5 continues to rely on the good old 1080p 5.5 inch AMOLED 2.5D curved screen instead of a QHD one. OnePlus has increased the cell capacity to 3,300 mAh from the OnePlus 3’s 3,000 mAh. The Dash Charge will be available to fasten the charging speed for the 5.

As far as memory is concerned, it is bundled with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM along with either 64GB or 128GB built-in storage (UFS 2.1 but now with two-lane ROM that is up to 26% faster).

This device will be running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with OxygenOS UX on top. The OnePlus 5 will be available for purchase on starting June 27. For the pricing, you can refer to the chart below for different market. Consumers in the US or European capitals have the initiative to own the OnePlus 5 from local stores as early as June 20.
