Telekom Malaysia generates record-breaking RM12 billion revenue last year!

Benefit from the contribution of the network and data services increased, Telekom Malaysia reaches the turnover of 12 billion ringgit Malaysia for the first time.

The net profit of the first quarter of the year (as of December 31 last year) was RM151.43 million, down 19.81% from the previous year’s total of RM194.22 million; its turnover was RM 3.18 billion, increased 1.65% to RM3.23 billion.

For the full financial year ended Dec 31, 2016 (FY16), the company’s net profit was RM776.03 million, up 10.82% from RM702.7 million, while turnover increased by 2.89% to RM12.06 billion.

The company also announced the payment of 12.2 cents per share for the second interim dividend, ex-dividend and interest date, respectively, on March 7 and March 9.

Managing director and group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa pointed out at the current performance report that the company’s strong performance in 2016, successfully reached all the key performance indicators (KPI).

He said that this year the company will continue to invest in capital development long-term evolution technology (LTE) services, high-speed broadband program Phase 2 (HSBB2) and suburban broadband program (SUBB), customer base will continue to expand.

“Capital spending this year will account for about 30% of turnover, up from last year (27.5% of turnover).” The development of broadband and LTE has led to the Group’s capital spending rising year after year. The company’s capital expenditure last year was RM3.35 billion, up from 32.34% over the previous year’s RM2.5 billion.

Turnover growth of 3.5% in 2017

Telekom Malaysia’s key performance indicators for 2017, which included Webe for the first time, grew 3.5 to 4 percent, while EBIT grew at the same level as the 2016 fiscal year.

The company also set a mid-2019 key performance indicators, turnover and pre-tax profit is expected to have 3.5 to 4% growth.

In addition, for the government’s budget announced last year, the telecommunications industry is required to allow their customers to enjoy higher broadband network services at the same price this year.

TM plans to start in March this year, the gradual implementation of the user to improve the speed of the broadband network.

At the same time, he also promised Unifi and Streamyx users will also be able to enjoy the network upgrade service, the company will notify their customers through SMS and email.
