Smartphone Market Report of May 2016 : Which one will be your favourite?

This is a very interesting May as many smartphone manufacturers have launched their new phone and started selling them in the local market, including the coming brands such as Wiko, Flash, Doogee, Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, as well as domestic brand ExMobile.

The following are the smartphones that are worth mention with:

Wiko

First to introduce smartphone brand from France, Wiko. In May they had launched three new smartphones which are Wiko ufeel, ufeel lite and Robby.

Wiko ufeel comes with 5-inch 720p IPS screen and with 2.5D arc edge panel, equipped with MediaTek MT6735 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 3GB RAM + 16GB ROM memory combinations. In terms of the camera, it is equipped with 13MP rear camera; 5-megapixel front camera, support with fingerprint unlock, packed by a 2500mAh battery capacity and run Android Marshmallow operating system, yet it also support 4G LTE network connections, priced at RM699.

For Wiko ufeel lite, it is also equipped with a 5-inch 720p IPS screen, powered by MediaTek MT6735 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM memory combinations. The camera is equipped with 8MP rear camera and 5MP of front-facing camera,also support for fingerprint unlock, with 2500mAh battery capacity and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, support 4G LTE network connections, priced at RM569.

There is also another new device named Wiko Robby, using 5.5-inch IPS HD screen, and equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, running Android 6.0 system + 1GB RAM and is equipped with 16GB internal memory (can be expanded via microSD). As for the camera, there would be a 8-megapixel rear camera 5 megapixel front camera, 2500mAh battery capacity and support dual card dual standby. The phone’s biggest feature is equipped with upper and lower ends of the front speakers, the sound is loud and clear but unfortunately the device only supports 3G network connectivity, priced at RM 469.

Next, I would like to introduce the mobile phone industry rookie, Flash. In fact, it is subsidiary brand that separate from Alcatel to operate independently. Flash Plus 2 is the first device to feature using cost-effective label.

Home key with 360-degree fingerprint reader, officially known can unlock in 0.5 seconds. In term of camera, it is equipped with 13MP main camera; 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash support.

Speaking of cost-effective, of course we can not forget the recent success of ZTE V7 Lite in the Malaysian market, this smartphone is equipped with a 5-inch 720p screen with 2.5D arc edge panel, MediaTek MT6753P processor with 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM memory.

Furthermore Blade V7 Lite is also equipped with a 13 megapixel primary camera and 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and support for 4G LTE network connection with 2500mAH capacity battery, running the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow also equipped with fingerprint scanning sensor.

ZTE Blade V7 Lite Price set at RM669, but ZTE launched the limited time discount RM170, so you can get it now with only RM499.

 

Lenovo Vibe K5

Lenovo has recently introduced a new smartphone name Vibe K5. Vibe K5 equipped with 5-inch (720P resolution) screen, using 1.4Ghz Snapdragon 415 octa-core processor, and with 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM memory combination (can be expanded via microSD to 32GB), and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.

In camera, it is equipped with 13MP primary camera; 5MP front camera, 2750mAh battery and support for 4G LTE dual card dual standby connection, 802.11 b / g / n 2.4GHz, 5GHz WiFi support and Bluetooth 4.1. Although the Vibe 5 is marked as low-end smartphone, but it also comes with a panoramic view of the Dolby sound (Dolby Atmos), providing the user a better audio enjoyment.

Lenovo Vibe K5 offered with three kinds of colors to choose from including silver, gold and gray, priced at RM599.

Local brands ExMobile has also quietly released a new smartphone VoLTE 1, it is equipped with 5.5 inches 1080p 2.5D side-arc side of the screen, using the Dragontrail tempered glass, equipped with 64bit octa-core 1.5GHz processor, and equipped with 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM combination of memory, supports up to 64GB MicroSD memory card expansion, with a 13 megapixel main camera and a 5 megapixel front camera, VoLTE 1 also supports for fingerprint unlock, an infrared sensor and remote control. For the connectivity, it support 4G LTE network connection. VoLTE 1 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop system and is equipped with 3250mAh capacity battery, priced at RM799.

Doogee Y300

Finally, I want to introduce a new rise of China brand, Doogee with their new smartphone, Doogee Y300. It is equipped with a 5-inch 720p screen side, powered by MediaTek MT6735 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM + 32GB ROM memory. For camera, it comes with a 13 megapixel primary camera and 8-megapixel front camera. Support for 4G LTE network connection and with a 2200mAh capacity battery, running Android 6.0 Marshmallow system, priced at RM 599.

Above are the smartphones that are launched in May with the price range of RM499 to RM799. If you’re going to get yourself a budget phone, this may be a good reference for you.

Huawei P9

P9 as Huawei annual flagship models, P9 exterior design inspired modern architecture, integrated metal body, the overall design and generous fashion. P9 packed with a screen size of 5.2 inches, body size is fairly similar to iPhone 6s but with a higher proportion of screen. Also it has a 1.7mm ultra-narrow frame width; the back of the body has a matte metal high polishing effect of the two metals. It is worth mentioning that this is the first time Huawei P9 in five ceramic metal surface coating technology, so that the metal has a more unique gloss.

Another selling point of P9 is, it brings a new dual-lens optical rear camera, with a larger aperture, gives a better depth of field. It’s worth mentioning that, both lens are Leica certified. Huawei P9 Lite is equipped with a 5.2 inch 1080p IPS screen, Kirin 650 processor and 3GB RAM for the Malaysian version, memory capacity of 16GB and equipped with 3000mAh battery also supports USB Type-C data interface. Its rear 13 megapixel camera, but without Leica certified lens; and a 8-megapixel front camera.
