Sharp Aquos S2 launched with bezelless design and iPhone 8-like rear panel

Sharp has introduced its latest smartphone model at a launch event held in Beijing today. This device features bezelless front panel which seems to be inspired by Essential Phone. On the back panel, it appears as a resemblance of the iPhone 8 render.

On the front, the Aquos S2 presents a slim bezels on the top and flanks while the bottom placed its logo and a home button. There’s a teardrop-shaped cutout on the top to accommodate the front-facing camera. Similar to the Essential Phone, the notification bar is split in the middle by the selfie camera.

The rear panel reminds us of the iPhone 8 leaks that features a vertical dual-camera setup with a flash in the top left corner.

Specifications wise, the Sharp Aquos S2 is offered in two variations— A Snapdragon 630 version which is mated with 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal memory, whereas the second version uses Snapdragon 660 that is paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. For the display, both models adopt a 5.5-inch screen with 1080 x 2040 pixels resolution with the aspect ratio of 17:9.

It sports a very attractive screen-to-body ratio of 87.5% which is higher than the popular Samsung Galaxy S8+ by 3.5%.

The Sharp Aquos S2 will be officially released in China on August 14. The Snapdragon 630 model will cost CNY 2499 (~RM1597), while the Snapdragon 660 version will be retailed at CNY 3499 (~RM2239).
