RED Hydrogen One: ‘World’s first holographic media machine’ making pre-order before revealing how it looks like

Most of us not be familiar or heard about Red, the company that makes high-end cameras to shoot blockbuster films. Just to name few movie produce by the equipment of RED: Transformers: The Last Knight,” “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2,” and “The Martian,” and many others.

Red now enters the smartphone game. The company said it plans to release a smartphone in early 2018 called the Hydrogen One.

The Hydrogen One will run Android OS on a 5.7-inch “hydrogen holographic display. The Hydrogen One is described as “world’s first holographic media machine”. RED touts that it’ll display 3D “holographic” content without the need for special glasses. The company yet to specify how 3D holographic content differs from traditional 3D content.

In addition, The Hydrogen One will feature a modular camera, that allow switching to various camera modules for “higher-quality motion and still images.” RED’s own holographic video format, called Hydrogen. It has the ability to use a module that captures 3D footage in RED. It will have  proprietary audio format for “multidimensional” audio to match holographic content.

RED’s Hydrogen One smartphones will come in two finishes: a $1,200 aluminum model and a $1,600 titanium model. You can pre-order the Hydrogen One today, and expecting to delivery in the first quarter of 2018.
