OPPO users can now verify their device’s IMEI number at OPPO Malaysia’s website

OPPO Malaysia has just launched the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) checking system on the company’s official website recently.

This IMEI Checker is set to help OPPO users in identifying if their OPPO smartphone is registered with the local headquarter.

“We has been strengthening in the sector of identifying and preventing counterfeits ever since cases of cloned phones being reported to our local headquarter. While OPPO Malaysia is taking legal action against the counterfeit issue, we are also introducing a few methods to help our consumers in identifying the cloned devices. By making available of OPPO Smartphone’s IMEI checking system online, OPPO users can now complete the verification process easily from home,” said Chen Lu, Branding Manager of OPPO Malaysia

The IMEI number is uniquely given to every single mobile phone. IMEI numbers of cellular phones connected to a GSM network are stored in a database, containing all valid mobile phone equipment.

When a phone is reported stolen or not approved, the number is marked invalid. In most mobile communication devices, the IMEI appears on the display when the user enters the character sequence *#06# (star-hash-zero-six-hash) into the keypad. Alternatively, the IMEI code may also be printed inside the battery compartment of the phone, OPPO phone package box or OPPO warranty booklet.

After retrieving the IMEI code, consumers can now log on to “OPPO Malaysia official website” and select “IMEI Checker” under “Support” (or by clicking on this direct link to http://www.oppo.com/my/supports/imei-check/).

The specification details of the smartphone will be provided on the webpage if the IMEI code is valid, thus proving that the smartphone is a genuine set.

However, consumer should take note that only OPPO smartphones that were being purchased in the local market are registered and recorded in the OPPO Malaysia’s database. Moreover, the warranty is only effective to users with genuine OPPO smartphone within the warranty period as provided from the day of purchase.

For those who still can’t understand how to check your device’s  IMEI number whether its genuine or not, you can contact OPPO Malaysia’s customer support for more information.
