OnePlus 5T: Everything seemed got right but still THREE upgrade missing

OnePlus 5T: Everything seemed got right but still THREE upgrade missing

OnePlus launched their latest FlagShip Smartphone OnePlus 5T. OnePlus 5T fixed most of the mistake from OnePlus 5, but still two key features are lackluster.

OnePlus 5T comes with similar spec to OnePlus 5. The major upgrade of the new flagship device is the display. The device comes with a large 6.01-inch 18:9 Optic AMOLED display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution of 2160×1080 pixels while the pixel density is at 401 ppi.

That is not the only upgrade of the display, the device is inplant with their own Sunlight Display technology which intelligently adjust the contrast to make it more visible under harsh light. Despite increase the size of the display, OnePlus manage to fit 5T the larger display into similar identical body of predecessor OnePlus 5.The finger print scanner is now shifted to the back of the uni-metal body.

OnePlus 5T comes with a Face Unlock feature that can recognise 100 different facial identifiers and will even recognise when you are in different fashion of facial accessories.

OnePlus 5T is powered with the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB/8GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB of storage just like its sibling. Dash Charge fast-Charging and 16MP selfie camera is presented too. 3.5mm headphone jack is remained as well.

Next big changes of OnePlus 5T is the camera. It remain equips a set of Dual Camera Setup. But this time, the wide plus short telephoto camera combination is gone. The new combination are a 16MP (Sony IMX398) + 20MP (IMX 376K). Both of these sensors come with f/1.7 aperture lenses that are of the same focal length of 27.22mm (equivalent). OnePlus 5T retains portrait mode with improvement to capture a wider field of view.

The main let down for the new generation flagship remain the same. A typically smaller capacity of battery at 3300mAh even though the device gets bigger screen.

Another big lack point of the camera is still the same, no optical image stabilisation (OIS). The company claimed that they’ve vastly improved the electronic image stabilisation (EIS) technology for smoother videos which is now support 4K resolution.

And lastly, you may not notice this disappointing feature still yet to implant in the new device. We are looking forward for stereo setup, but OnePlus 5T to come with single speaker. There is no IP67/IP68 water resistance too.

Out of the box, OnePlus 5T to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat with improved Oxygen OS  on top of it.

Being a OnePlus Smartphone, we expected it come with attractive pricing. OnePlus did it again. The device is retailed at USD499 (~RM2,079) for the 64GB variant and USD559 (~RM2,330) for the 128GB variant. It will available in North America, Europe and India from the 21st of November onwards.
