Nearly 25% Malaysian will spend over RM1,600 to purchase smart devices

According to a survey conducted by Counterpoint, 23% of Malaysians are willing to pay more than $400 (around RM1,682) to buy a smart device. This is a relatively high percentage. In Japan, there is only 13% people are willing to pay at the price tag even though they live in a developed country. Saudi Arabia has the highest percentage which is 53% while the lowest percentage is India with just 5%.

In average, consumers buy new devices every 21 months while Malaysians switch to new devices every 22 months. However, Japanese only changes their new devices every 26 months.

26% of the owners spend more than 7 hours a day using the device. Only 1% percent use it less than an hour. The most popular activity on the device is to surf the web which is 64%.
