Intel’s new SSD form factor, storage up to 1000TB(1PB)

Recently Intel revealed its latest SSD technologies to advance datacenter storage. Intel want to swap out old disk-based drives in data centers with SSDs. The new SSD is long skinny shape fits into a standard rack mounted server. It is named Ruler.

According to Intel, Ruler SSDs based on 3D NAND SSDs and Optane SSDs. This all-new solid state drive form factor enabling up to 1PB of storage in a 1U server rack. Intel also unveiled a dual-port portfolio comprised of Optane, 32-layer 3D NAND drives and an update to the SATA family of drives for data centers that is designed for simpler transition from HDDs to SSDs.

The new Ruler drives aren’t available yet. Intel said it will offer them with both its Optane and 3D NAND SSDs in the near future.
