Both Mate 10 & Mate 10 Pro basically offer identical presentation from their appearance. If you are paying a little bit more attention, you can still easily differentiate both phablets.

From the front of the phone, you can clearly see the differences in term of screen size especially the ratio of the screen. Mate 10 is measure at the dimension of 150.5 x 77.8 x 8.2 mm while Mate 10 Pro is slightly taller and thinner at 154.2 x 74.5 x 7.9 mm.

The most significant difference has to be the screen ratio. Mate 1o features 5.9 inch 16:9 aspect ratio LCD display with the resolution of 2560 x 1440 which is 499 ppi. Mate 10 Pro features a 6 inch 18:9 aspect ratio OLED display. However the resolution is slightly lower than Mate 10 despite being the more premium model. Mate 10 Pro’s resolution is only 2160 x 1080 pixel which converts into 402 ppi.

Finger Print sensor on both Mate 10 & Mate 10 Pro have different placement as well. Mate 10’s finger print sensor is found below the display, while Mate 10 Pro stamped the finger print sensor on the back panel below the dual cameras.

Both Mate 10 & Mate 10 Pro are using the same Kirin 970 + NPU SoC. While for the internal storage and Random Access Memory, Mate 10 comes with 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM combination while Mate 10 Pro comes with whopping 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM combination. However Mate 10 Pro features 2 Nano Sim-card Slot without Micro-SD expansion which Mate 10 comes with 2 in 1 Hybrid Sim-tray with Micro-SD expansion.

Micro-SD expansion is not the only thing missing in Mate 10 Pro. Huawei had also removed the 3.5mm audio jack from the Mate 10 Pro. You will have to compromise with the USB Type-C to 3.5mm jack which come along in the box.

Further more, Huawei Mate 10 Series is the first Phablet series that provides Dust and water proof feature. Mate 10 is IP53 rated which is equivalent to splash proof, while Mate 10 Pro has IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

Both Mate 10 & Mate 10 Pro come with the upgraded Leica Certified Main Dual Lens Setup. The main cameras consist of 12MP RBG + 20MP Monochrome Sensor. Further more, the RGB sensor is assisted with Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) and both sensors come with F/1.6 Aperture for excellent low light shooting.

For battery, Both Mate 10 & Mate 10 Pro pack with 4000mAh battery which support 4.5V/5A Super Charge. Huawei claimed 30 minutes of charging return an impreesive 58% of battery!

Out of the box both phablets powered by Android 8.0 that skinned with EMUI 8.0.

We are surprised and happy with the announcement of pricing for both Huawei Mate 10 & Mate 10 Pro. After the release of Galaxy Note 8 & iPhone 8, we predicted Huawei Mate 10 should at least hit above RM3,500 mark. However Huawei proved us wrong with Mate 10 retailed at RM2,699 while Mate 10 Pro retailed at RM3099.

As summary Huawei Mate 10 is undoubtedly a very good flagship phablet with a handful of features. If you dont mind to spend an additional of RM400 and able to cope without Micro-SD slot & 3.5mm audio jack, Mate 10 Pro is simply a no-brainer !
