HTC now suspends trading possible means Google to take over HTC soon?!

HTC has reportedly suspended trading of its shares ahead of a “huge announcement” tomorrow, 21 September. There is high possibility that Google’s rumoured acquisition of HTC’s phone business could be made official very soon.

Serial leakster @evleaks claims to have received a HTC internal memo highlighting  an employee meeting for tomorrow, with the Google buyout allegedly on the agenda.

In addition he alludes to the fact that, while the entire phone business switches to Google, the HTC brand will not be part of the deal.

Refer to the previous report, the buyover deal will only involve HTC’s smartphone research-and-development team. While the the division that works on the HTC Vive VR headset will not be included. As consequences HTC will retain its brand for Vive activities going forward.

Google wants to get in the smartphone-making business again just a length of three years later after selling smartphone maker Motorola to Lenovo.  It was made obvious that Google is interested in hardware and growing new revenue streams.
