Honor 5X Unboxing and Hands On Review

Honor 5X has been launched in Malaysia on 26 January 2016 but Honor Malaysia did not announce its retailed price during the product launching and they later unveiled that the Honor 5X is sold with the retailed price RM 899 for silver and grey color while the gold color is available at the retailed price of RM 939.

The Honor 5X packaging box adopted Honor’s signature that’s similar to the Honor 7 and the back of the box provides a few important information for the device such as color, model number , IMEI and Serial number. It also show that the device comes with dual SIM support.

Thus, let us do the unboxing for the Honor 5X that we have with us here.

When we unboxed the packaging box, the Honor 5X was placed on the upper surface of the box.

After we took out the device, we discovered that there were some important things inside the box such as SIM ejector pin, quick start guide, warranty card, charger and USB cable.

Unfortunately, the Honor 5X is lack of a pair of earphones.

The charger output is 5V1A but the device can support up to 10W (5V2A) fast charging speed.

Besides that, the USB cable for the Honor 5X looks normal and there’s nothing special about it.

Hands On Review

The Honor 5X is equipped with the specifications of a 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 resolution with 400 PPI display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core 64 bit CPU, Adreno 405 GPU and pairing with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM.

Therefore, the screen display looks better if compared to Honor 4X. Furthermore, the Honor 5X also has finger-print sensor that gives users extra convenience to unlock their phone , lock the applications and etc.

The speaker grilles is located at the bottom of the device and it is actually a single side speaker with the other one is the microphone for voice calls. They designed the speaker with stereo speakers look to give a good impression for users. The USB slot is situated in between the speaker grilles.

The earphone jack is at the top of the phone where it is commonly placed.

Turn to the back of the phone, we can see the main camera with LED flash and the finger print sensor placed beneath the rear shooter.

The metallic build body design gives a comfortable grip and touch which gave us a very positive first impression.

Looking on the right side of the phone, there is the volume button and power button. On the left side it has two SIM slots: SIM 1 slot is for nano SIM card and micro SD card and another SIM slot is for micro SIM card.

It should be noted that the Honor 5X  is suitable for those who need dual SIM cards and if it happens that the internal storage capacity runs low, users can increase the storage with a micro SD card which has an individual slot unlike the Honor 7 which the microSD card slot is sharing the slot with the SIM 2 slot.

Finally, Honor 5x hands on and first impression is quite a decent one and it is indeed a good bargain for under RM1,000.
