Google announces Project Treble to reduce the time for Android updates

We all know that we normally have to wait anywhere between months and years for the latest version of Android to reach our phones if we bought non-Nexus and non-Pixel phones.

Google’s Project Treble helps to reduce the time between Android updates by making it easier for carriers and device makers to transfer over specific software, without needing to update that software for each subsequent version of Android.

According to Google blog, Google is already working with silicon and device partners to take their code changes and move them into the common Android Open Source Project (AOSP) codebase. Their partners contributed dozens of features and hundreds of bugfixes to Android O so they no longer need to rework these patches with each new release of Android.

“Project Treble will be coming to all new devices launched with Android O and beyond.” – Google said.
