Celcom voice network suffers nationwide outage due to “Troubled Network Upgrade”

Today, the voice network of Celcom across the country suffered mass network outage which occurred around 6.45am.

Celcom released a statement around 10am this morning on its Facebook page to address the outage. Celcom stated that their tech team has fixed the issue at 9:30am, which stemmed from a “troubled network upgrade”.

Celcom also stated that users throughout Malaysia should already be able to access the voice and data network. While it has been reported that the voice network in Peninsular Malaysia is already back online, users from East Malaysia were still facing difficulties to make any outgoing or receive incoming calls on the Celcom network.

However, it is learned that 4G data services seems to be unaffected, whereas 2G and 3G connections were not accessible for Celcom’s data network.

Additionally, other telcos such as webe, TuneTalk, and RedOne that rely on Celcom’s infrastructure were also affected by the outage.
