Apple lost its market share in wearable by placing 3rd in 2017

It is the first time that Apple has lost being the first in the wearable market. According to Strategy Analytics, Apple has a 2.8 million drop in shipment with a market share of 13%.

For the first time, it’s not Fitbit that overtake Apple in the rank, but Xiaomi does. Xiaomi has shipped a total of 3.7 million units (23% increase year on year) overtaking both Apple and Fitbit by having a 17.1% market share.

Fitbit as thea long term dominant in wearable market increase its shipments quarter on quarter to 3.4 million in Q2 2017 but it is still a drop of 40% from the previous year. Despite having a significant drop in sale, it still managed to displace Apple by getting 2nd in the rank.

However, Fitbit believes to gain their sale back in this year end by having New product launch that come with built-in GPS and it will be water resistant up to 50 metres. The wearable market is still on growing by 8% in a whole. High demand in cheap wearable like the RM129 Mi Band 2 has the company succeed in getting bigger market share.
