Apple event unveils iPhone 6S with 3D Touch feature
The moment every Apple fans has been waiting for is finally here. Apple has officially announced the long awaited iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus alongside a series of new Apple devices such as iPad Pro, new Apple TV, Apple Pencil, iPad mini 4 etc.
iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus
Apple CEO, Tim Cook has put the most anticipated iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on stage at the Apple Event happened earlier this morning.
So what does Apple has added to the all new iPhone series? As a starter, this new iPhone will be featuring 3D touch display which is considered a major evolution for the World’s best selling smartphone model.
Apart from the 3D touch, we are glad to welcome a new 12MP OIS camera that is going to replace the 8MP unit which Apple had been using since iPhone 4S!
Here are some of the new iPhone 6S series main specifications:
- 3D Touch (force touch display)
- 64-bit A9 chip
- 12MP rear camera with 4K video recording
- 5MP FaceTime HD and Retina Flash
- Extra-quick, new Touch ID
- Supports WiFi up to 866 mbps, with 300 mbps LTE
For the evolutionary 3D touch which was formerly called Force Touch by Apple, it is functioning as an extra dimension for the device to do additional gesture such as light touching an email app will show the content inside etc.
The 3D Touch offers haptic feedback as part of the force touch experience. Apart from default Apple apps, third party app such as Instagram, Facebook etc also integrated with 3D Touch support now.
The new A9 processor on the iPhone 6S series is built with a new transistor architecture which Apple claims to be 70% faster than the A8 chipset and 90% faster graphics performance than the latter.
Other than this, the new iPhone also comes with M9 co-processor that helps to detect motion for apps like Health etc.
In addition, the new processor also improved the TouchID’s speed to twice as fast as the previous models.
On the camera, we are glad that Apple has decided to upgrade it from 8MP to 12MP for the first time in years. While the 6S Plus receives an Optical Image Stabilization feature, the 6S will have to compromise without this feature.
Apple brings in ‘deep trench isolation’ which separates photo diodes to help maintain accurate color quality and reduce crosstalk and noise.
The rear camera once again protruded like its predecessors but with the capability of taking 4K video, we will just have to cope with it then.
The front-facing camera is now a 5 megapixel unit. If you’re a selfie addict, Apple’s new front-facing flash mimic TrueTone flash can produce a perfect selfie shot whenever you want!
Live Photos was also introduced during the event that gives snippets of live action for your photos.
